I heard this on the radio yesterday. I don't mind people coming up with dumb statistics, but this one takes the cake.
"3 out of 4 accidents occur within 25 miles of home." - Actual DOT statistic.
Well DUH. 25 miles from your house is quite a large area to cover. Most people RARELY exceed that distance unless they are taking a long trip, so of course most accidents will occur within that distance. While the statistic is true, it kind of goes without saying. The sad part is that the government actually paid someone to tell them that.
